Our story
Built out of the live-sound trade.
Raymond Phiri was working in the live sound, touring and DJ industry and watching the same thing happen over and over: expensive equipment going out clean and coming back damaged. The imported cases that fitted properly cost more than the gear was worth. The local options either didn’t fit or took two months.
So he built one. Then he built one for someone else. Fifteen years later, Motion Bags & Cases has built more than 500 cases and bags for touring companies, churches, DJs and production houses across South Africa — and we still build every one to order.

What we believe
Three things we won’t compromise on.
They sound obvious. They aren’t — or the industry wouldn’t be full of bags that don’t fit and cases you can’t get anyone on the phone about.
Protection is measured, not guessed.
A cover that’s 20 mm too big lets your cabinet move, and every movement is a rub against the grille or a knock against the corner. We measure to the millimetre and build to exactly what we measured.
Nothing leaves that we wouldn’t tour with.
Every case is inspected and test-fitted before it goes: latches closed, castors rolled, foam checked against the dimensions we were given. If a latch sits wrong, it gets stripped and redone.
You can phone the person who built it.
No call centre, no ticket number, no three-day wait. The person who cut the panels is the person who answers — so you get a straight yes or no, the same day.

Craft, honesty, and local — properly.
Craft over volume
We’d rather build ten cases properly than thirty in a hurry. Every one is measured, cut, lined and test-fitted before it leaves the bench.
Honesty over the sale
If a padded bag will do the job for half the price, we’ll tell you. If your case can be re-foamed instead of replaced, we’ll say that too. We’d rather have your next five builds than oversell the first.
Local, properly
Built here, by people here, for an industry we work in ourselves. Nothing outsourced, nothing imported and rebadged.
